MY WORK PROCESS

––– Client brief to final artwork –––

A clients inital brief comes to me in many ways,  whatsapp, skype, email or a plain old phone call. Normally its to enquire how busy I am and can I meet a deadline. If I can then 99% of the time I ask a client to email me the brief so I can quote on the project.

CLIENT VISUAL

An In-House rough idea of a double page magazine spread Ad arrives from client. Obviously impossible to photograph so they want me to create this from nothing. This will be a tough one. I quote the client and receive approval.

FIND REFERENCE

First thing to do is find any kind of reference photo or graphic to help with colour, texture & shape, nothing I find is ideal but that was expected. Photos from the inside of a mouth are not too common.

1st STAGE PENCIL DRAWING

Out with the sketch pad & pencil and using my reference images, plus a tiny mirror inside my own mouth I sketch around 5 or 6 ideas until I am happy with one then I create a neater version of that and send to client.

CLIENT FEEDBACK

OK, thats good news, client happy with the first draft with a few minor tweaks. The Art Director on this project is a seasoned pro and knows this is how I work. He can now start creating the final Ad knowing this is the layout.

WEBSITE QUOTATION FORM

Websites are notoriously difficult to quote 100% correctly. The best option I have found is to ask the 10 questions below which gives me a much clearer picture of what you need. It also makes you, the client, stop & think about exactly what you need.
There will obviously be more questions from me and from you after this initial process is complete but I always find the planning stage just as important as the design stage.

1. What's your primary goal for the site? What do you want most from it?
2. Do you have a website already?
7. What features do you want your website to have?
8. If you are looking for an Ecommerce website (Shop), approx how many products are you selling?
9. What will you supply me in terms of content for the website?
10. Extras (Please tick which ones you need)
